2025 Resolution on strengthening health financing globally
Recent freezes and cuts in official development assistance have already reduced access to essential health services, endangering millions of lives and affecting progress on many health priorities. In light of this global crisis, the Resolution on strengthening health financing globally, adopted by WHO Member States at the Seventy-eighth World Health Assembly in 2025, offers a blueprint for using limited resources more effectively and investing in health as a foundation for economic stability, health system efficiency, and long-term development.
2024 Resolution on social participation for universal health coverage, health and well-being
Social participation is critical to ensure people-centered health services and build equitable and resilient health systems that respond to the needs of people and communities, particularly those in vulnerable and marginalized situations. In 2024, WHO Member States at the Seventy-seventh World Health Assembly adopted the resolution on social participation, a key step towards inclusive, responsive and effective health systems governance.
2023 Political Declaration on UHC
During the 2023 UN High-level meeting on UHC, Member States unanimously recognized that UHC is fundamental to achieving all of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – not only those related to health and well-being (SDG 3), but also those related to poverty eradication, access to education, gender equality, climate change and building peaceful and inclusive societies.
2019 Political Declaration on UHC
During the landmark 2019 UN High-level meeting on UHC, Member States agreed to take ambitious action to institute UHC in their countries. They also committed to strengthening primary health care. This high-level meeting gave UHC champions and advocates the opportunity to make their voice heard and to mobilize high-level political attention globally and in their countries.
