This UHC Day, ONG ODI Niger will engage in a social media campaign focused on tuberculosis (TB).
According to the WHO, more than 10 million people affected by TB each year worldwide. In Niger, this incidence increased from 108 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 2011 to 93 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 2016 to reach 79 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 2021. Stigma remains a significant obstacle to the fight against tuberculosis, particularly for women and people with disabilities.
The campaign will aim to help strengthen awareness on TB to inform patients about human rights and health care, as well as advocate for action to urge those in power to develop and adopt legal guidelines on the protection of people with TB.
