MNH Coalition of Kenya
December 13, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am UTC+3
The Maternal and new Born Health (MNH) coalition of Kenya is a partnership of Grassroots Civil societies working to advocate and promote maternal and neonatal health. Our mission is to promote the availability and accessibility of quality maternal and newborn healthcare through evidence-driven advocacy, collaboration with like-minded stakeholders, awareness creation, and social mobilization. In the preparation to advance UHC day the Coalition envisions to hold a media breakfast roundtable with the following objectives: 1. To secure commitments from decision makers on strategies to reduce teenage pregnancy and ensure availability of essential FP commodities. 2. To highlight key actions from MPDSR and advocate for county inclusion in the health budget. 3. To ensure county commits and puts measures to increase domestic resources to health facilities through NHIF In our advocacy campaign our key messages will focus on the following areas: a. Teenage pregnancy TWG recommendations for youth friendly services incorporated into annual workplans and budgets in Nairobi b. County and sub-county to include specific MPDSR actions on response to challenges that put women and babies lives at risk in Nairobi. c. Lifesaving FP and MNCH commodities are continuously stocked (e.g., no stock outs) at PHC level (e.g., iron folate, oxytocin, vitamin A) in Nairobi d. Increasing number of facilities claiming at least 80% through national NHIF scheme for services provided to mobilize resources for RMNCAH The coalition will use evidence based advocacy tools to engage with the policy makers to ensure we get informed decisions on the commitments addressing key priority areas to promote progress to Universal health care coverage.
