Afrihealth Optonet Association (AHOA)

Afrihealth Optonet Association (AHOA) shall organize a global Town Hall Meeting on 10 December 2023 to discuss the above “Addressing violence against women and girls and gender-based violence associated with Universal Health Coverage in resource-constrained environments” in commemoration of the UHC Day. Coming on the heels of the ’16 Days of Action’ to end VAWG/GBV, this virtual event shall attract participants from countries across all the continents, and focus on the theme “Health for All: Time for Action”. The keynote speech shall be delivered by Prof. C Onyebuchi Chukwu, who was the Honourable Minister of Health in Nigeria during the Ebola outbreak. He took actions that successfully tamed the Ebola rampage and secured the health/lives of Nigerians during the Ebola outbreak, to the admiration of the global Health Community. Participants shall openly and freely discuss VAWG/GBV that are associated with providing, accessing, supporting, funding and managing Universal Health Coverage in resource-poor populations; including recommendations to eliminate VAWG/GBV. The Meeting shall explore the critical roles of the civil society and community in this effort, and the use of partnerships, advocacy, research/evidence-generation, capacity development, outreach interventions, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to achieve these roles. A ‘Statement’ is expected from the town hall meeting that shall be an added value towards achieving ‘Health for All’ through the UHC.

Afrihealth Optonet Association (AHOA) is a global and community-focused CSOs global Network and Think-tank of over 2,200 organizations from 101 (one hundred and one) countries across all the continents. AHOA’s mandate is the promotion of Development Work, the SDGs, and Health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being; using partnership/collaboration, advocacy, communication, research/evidence-generation, capacity development, outreaches, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) as strategies. AHOA’s interventions/programmes are mainly focused to benefit rural and poor urban dwellers, marginalized, vulnerable and disadvantaged populations of women, children, youth, adolescents, people with disability, orphans and elderly. The AHOA Network and Think-tank dwells in exploring the nexus between Health – UHC, PHC, HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, NCDs, Vaccines and COVID-19; Energy and Environment – biodiversity, environment, ecosystems, renewable energy, energy efficiency, conservation and climate change; Nutrition/micronutrients and Food Security; Gender, Democracy, Good Governance and Human Rights. Afrihealth Optonet Association has the Consultative Status at UN ECOSOC; and an Accredited Observer status at the UNEP/UNEA.
