Looking forward with Universal health Coverage in responding to Health Emergencies: COVID-19 Case Study
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, in partnership with the National Health Security Office of Thailand, is convening a hybrid (in person and virtual) seminar to commemorate International Universal Health Coverage Day, on 8 December 2020 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.
The Deputy Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will give welcome and opening remarks and the event, followed by the Secretary-General of the National Health Security Office. Thereafter, a seminar on “Looking forward with Universal health Coverage in responding to Health Emergencies: COVID-19 Case Study” will include a representative from the WHO Country Office in Thailand, the US, CDC Regional Office for Southeast Asia, the Director-General of the International Organizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary-General of the NHSO, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health and the President of the Foundation for Labour and Vocational Development.
The event aims to raise awareness of the need for strong and resilient health systems and Universal Health Coverage as a fundamental basis towards achieving sustainable development amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and future health emergencies. Guests in attendance in-person include representatives of the diplomatic corps in Bangkok, representatives of the International Organizations represented in Bangkok and representatives of civil society, in full conformity with COVID-19 public health measures.
